Unity Radio is not exactly new, it's been around since 2004 with an internet online presence playing music from up and coming young artists, who may not get the chance of the limelight through other means. One problem is no one actually listens to the youth and asks them what they want, one commercial radio station Galaxy does not cater for, or encourage certain types of music and especially from the younger generation. And this is where Unity Radio can fill the gap, working with young people and encouraging and promoting their work and allowing creativity to flourish, at the same time as promoting and teaching life skills. Recently they have been provisionally granted a community licence to broadcast from OFCOM, at a recent meeting in january 2008 this is what OFCOM said. "With regard to the applications from Peace FM, NMFM, Gaydio, Unity Radio and Bolton FM, the Committee indicated that it was minded to award a licence to each applicant, subject to the availability of suitable FM and AM frequencies". So it looks like Unity Radio will be broacasting very soon, Great News.
