August events at the EMERGE Learning Garden

The garden has literally exploded with growth in the past month with the warm, wet weather providing perfect growing conditions. Our potatoes and tomatoes are, luckily, under the cover of the polytunnel and should therefore be insulated from the risk of blight which accompanies wet and warm summer weather. We will soon be starting to build another raised bed to be filled with oriental greens such as pak-choi which will provide a good source of greens as the weather eventually begins to get colder.

We will be having another set of free “grow your own” sessions aimed at those beginning to get the growing bug, starting in August, from Wednesday the 11th. For more information please see http://www.emergemanchester.co.uk/grow-your-own.html. Also, don’t forget about our fortnightly gardening club sessions starting from next Saturday (the 7th), from 10 – 1pm. Over the next few weeks we will be looking to build a herb spiral, more raised beds and start planning how best to use the garden over winter.

If you would like to get involved with any of these events or have any questions then don’t hesitate to get in touch.
